It effectively began in September 2024 with The EVE Hotel Sydney in the Wunderlich Lane precinct, joined by Hotel Hacienda on Cleveland Street — and it exists because of what is around it: South Eveleigh and the Australian Technology Park, Carriageworks, and the University of Sydney's Darlington campus a few minutes north.
That gives Redfern a corporate and creative guest profile closer to Surry Hills than to its own recent past. HGL collects from all of it, on the same run and with the same six-hour express window. Press and steam is the service that dominates midweek here; wash and fold takes over by Thursday, when the three-day trip has quietly become a five-day one.
