Hotel laundry and dry cleaning in Newtown
Half the venues on King Street are called hotels and about four of them have beds. That mismatch is the whole story here: a suburb that fills up every weekend and has almost nowhere proper to stay, let alone to do washing. We collect from your reception or the bar downstairs and bring it back clean the next day.

Guest laundry in Newtown
Sydney's busiest night-time strip and one of its thinnest hotel markets.
Newtown is one of Sydney's busiest night-time destinations and one of its thinnest hotel markets — a genuine mismatch. The Urban Newtown on Enmore Road is the only conventional hotel in the suburb; the rest is hostels, small apartment blocks and student housing. Most of King Street's "Hotels" are pubs with no rooms at all.
For guests staying here, that means shared or absent laundry facilities and a long walk to anything better. HGL collects from reception, cleans everything properly, and brings it back — $6.50 an item, no minimum order. Standard turnaround is next day; express is available on request when a gig, an interview or a flight makes that too slow.
We collect from whatever the property has: a hostel counter on Egan Street, a student residence desk, or a publican who has agreed to hold a bag behind the bar. None of it changes the price, and all of it carries the same hands-on garment care.
Hotels we service in Newtown
The properties that actually have beds, from Enmore Road down to Sydney Park.
Above a pub, in a share flat, or somewhere with no sign?
All of it counts. Newtown's short-stay stock is scattered across rooms above King Street venues, small blocks off Australia Street and student housing on the Camperdown edge, and very little of it appears on a hotel list. The 2042 postcode is on our daily route in full, along with Enmore and Erskineville. Book a pickup, enter the venue or street address, and we will confirm where and when the driver meets you. ---

Serving guests across Newtown
Our Newtown route covers King Street end to end — the longest intact Victorian and Federation commercial strip in Australia — plus Enmore Road past the Enmore Theatre, Australia Street, Egan Street and the Camperdown edge. We collect near Newtown station on the T2 and T3 lines, around Camperdown Memorial Rest Park and St Stephen's, and down toward Sydney Park.
Demand here is gig-driven and university-driven in roughly equal measure. Enmore Theatre and the King Street venues fill rooms on weekends; the University of Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred, both immediately north in Camperdown, fill them midweek. The two patterns want different things from us — pressing and quick turnarounds on a Friday, honest volume washing on a Tuesday — and both are on the same 7am to 7pm window.
Enmore, Erskineville and Camperdown are all collected on the Newtown run, and the neighbouring routes share the same drivers — Redfern, Glebe, Chippendale and Ultimo.
Questions guests ask
Yes. A number of King Street venues have rooms upstairs even though they trade primarily as pubs. Book online, enter the venue name, and we will collect from the bar or reception. If the venue has no staffed desk during our window, we will arrange a direct handover time. There is no minimum order and no partner requirement.
Yes — Enmore, Erskineville and Camperdown are all on the Newtown run. Enter your address at checkout and we will confirm the collection window. The route is the same 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, whichever side of the station you are on.
Ask for express when you book. Standard turnaround in Newtown is next day, but six-hour express is available on request and subject to same-day capacity — a morning collection on Enmore Road generally covers an evening door time. Press and steam at $8.00 an item is the fastest service in the range.
Yes. Camperdown sits immediately north of the suburb and is collected on the Newtown loop, which puts both the university's western edge and Royal Prince Alfred inside the route. These stays tend to run long, so ask for a standing weekly collection at checkout instead of rebooking each week.
Wash and fold is $6.50 per item with a flat $12 delivery and no minimum, so a single bag sent once a week costs far less than the same clothes sent in three small batches. Press and steam is $8.00, stain treatment $10.00 and dry cleaning $15.00. You are invoiced after cleaning, before delivery, so the item count is never a guess.
That depends on how you value a Sunday afternoon. Shared machines in Newtown's hostels and student blocks are usually one or two for a full building, and clothes come back damp and creased at best. We sort by fabric, wash properly, and return everything dry, folded and bagged to the desk you left it at.
