Hotel laundry and dry cleaning in Haymarket

A train at eleven, a flight at six, and a room with nowhere to wash anything. Haymarket does this to people. Leave your bag with the front desk on Thomas, Pitt or George Street and we will have it back at reception cleaned, pressed and packed — next day as standard, six hours if you are moving on.

Guest laundry in Haymarket

More beds per block than anywhere outside the CBD. Almost no washing machines.

Haymarket packs more accommodation into a small footprint than anywhere else on this list except the CBD proper — upscale hotels on Little Pier and Thomas Streets, a dense mid-market layer along George and Pitt, and a large hostel and capsule cluster around Central Station. The guest mix is inbound leisure, transit travellers and university visitors, and the common thread is that almost nobody here has laundry facilities. Capsule pods and four-share dorms do not come with a dryer, and the hotels that do have a guest laundry usually have two machines for three hundred rooms.

HGL fills that gap at a price that works for a longer, less expensive stay: $6.50 an item, $12 flat delivery, no minimum order. Leave it at the front desk, get it back the next day — or the same day if you are moving on. Everything is cleaned at our own facility rather than sent out to a wholesale plant, sorted by fabric and care label, and returned folded and bagged rather than dumped back in the bag you sent it in.

You do not need your property to be an HGL partner, and you do not need to be in a hotel at all. Hostels, capsule rooms, serviced apartments and student stays are all on the same daily route through 2000. Book online, name the property, and we deal with the front desk from there.

Your property is not on the list? It is still on the route.

Haymarket turns over accommodation faster than we can update a page — new capsule operators, rebranded mid-market hotels, apartment blocks that started letting rooms last month. The names above are the best known, not the limit. If you are anywhere in the 2000 postcode between Liverpool Street and Railway Square, book a pickup and type your property name at checkout. Partner status makes no difference to what you pay or how fast you get it back. ---

Effortless for your guests

How a Haymarket pickup works

  1. Book online

Pick your property, your service and a collection window. Two minutes on your phone, no app and no account to set up.

  2. Leave it at the concierge

Drop the bag at reception on your way out to Dixon Street or Paddy's Markets. Our driver collects from the desk, so you are not waiting in your room.

  3. We clean it properly

Sorted by fabric and care label at our own facility, then washed, dry cleaned or pressed by garment technicians. Nothing gets outsourced.

  4. Back to your hotel

Returned to reception folded and bagged. Next day as standard, or six hours on express if you have a train from Central to catch.

Serving guests across Haymarket

Our Haymarket route runs from Central Station and Railway Square through Chinatown — the Dixon Street mall and paifang gates — across to Darling Square and the Capitol Theatre on Campbell Street. We collect around Paddy's Markets and Market City, along Thomas, Quay and Hay Streets, and down the George Street strip toward Broadway. World Square and the Liverpool Street edge are on the same run, as are the Little Pier Street towers backing onto Darling Square.

It is Sydney's busiest transit precinct, and that drives an unusual booking pattern: a lot of guests here are between flights, trains or legs of a longer trip, and they want everything clean before the next one. If you are checking out and moving on, tell us at booking — we can align the return to your departure rather than to a standard next-day slot. The other pattern is the long, thrifty stay: three weeks in a capsule or a dorm, one bag of clothes, and a per-item price that beats feeding coins into a shared machine once you count the afternoon it costs you.

If your property sits just outside the postcode, the same drivers cover Sydney CBD, Ultimo, Chippendale and Pyrmont on the same run, so a Broadway or Darling Harbour address changes nothing about your window.

Questions guests ask

Yes. Tell us your check-out time at booking and we will align the return to it rather than to a standard next-day slot. If it is tight, book express: six-hour turnaround covers a morning collection and an afternoon departure. Guests catching an airport train from Central usually book the collection the night before and take the return at reception on the way out.

Yes. YHA Sydney Central, Wake Up!, Space Q, The Pod and the Pitt Street hostels are all on our daily route. There is no minimum order and no requirement for the property to be an HGL partner — leave your bag at reception and book online. If your hostel desk is unstaffed during our window, tell us at booking and we will arrange a direct handover time instead.

Usually, yes. Press and steam on express runs six hours, so a morning collection at your hotel is back at reception well before a Campbell Street curtain. Press and steam is $8.00 an item and it is the service we run most often around the Capitol and Darling Square. Express is confirmed at booking and depends on same-day capacity, so book the night before during a big season.

Both, daily. Novotel Sydney Darling Square and the Little Pier Street properties sit on the western end of the run; APX World Square, Meriton Suites Campbell Street and the George Street hotels sit on the eastern end. Postcode 2000 covers the lot. Enter the property name at checkout rather than the precinct name and we will route it correctly.

Wash and fold is $6.50 per item, press and steam $8.00, stain treatment $10.00 and dry cleaning $15.00. Delivery is a flat $12 no matter how much you send, which is why longer Haymarket stays tend to save everything up and send one large batch rather than three small ones. There is no minimum order and you are invoiced after cleaning, before delivery.

Because a shared machine costs you an afternoon you are in Sydney to spend elsewhere, and because most Haymarket guest laundries are two machines shared across several hundred rooms. You can book us regardless of what your property offers — we deal with the front desk, not with your hotel's laundry contract, and everything comes back pressed and folded rather than damp in a bag.
